Accept Increment In Petroleum Prices In Good Faith Hon Aquinas

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah has appealed to Ghanaians to come to terms with the increment in the prices of petroleum products to accelerate national development. Speaking in a telephone interview with the Ghana News Agency at Saltpond, Mr Quansah said the government could not continue to spend huge sums of money on subsidising the prices of petroleum products. Our roads are in deplorable state, people are crying for water, improvement in electricity supply and provision of infrastructure to eliminate the schools under trees, the MP said and added that the country needed money to fix all these things. We cannot eat our cake and have it, he said, adding that the country could not continue spending money to subsidise petroleum products and be able to provide the needs of the citizenry. Mr Quansah urged Ghanaians not to see the increment as an act of insensitivity to their plight on the part of the government. He said even the developed countries went through similar stringent economic measures like what Ghana was going through now and urged the citizenry to exercise patience and give the government time to fix things for the benefit of all. The MP appealed to Ghanaians not to politicise the increment in the prices of the petroleum products because it was in the best interest of the nation.
