Some of the ECG Officials Must Be Lashed For Failing to Provide Power

Deputy Communications Director of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah has slammed officials of ECG that their failure to provide electricity power for Ghanaians must warrant a severe lash since Ghanaians are not receiving their value for money. He elucidated that the Electricity Company of Ghana is in an agreement with Ghanaians to provide constant supply of power; adding that Ghanaians are paying their bills and yet do not get value for the money paid. Speaking on the Peace FMs Kokrokoo program, Owusu-Bempah said that drastic measures must be put against ECG since if any Ghanaian engages in illegal means, the person would be jailed; in that the officials responsible for the energy supply in the country must be arrested for breaching the contract they (ECG) have with Ghanaians. He however suggested that; we have to lash some of the leaders of ECG because their inefficiency is no excuse for Ghanaians; adding that it is unheard of that the Electricity Company of Ghana will lament over their inefficiency to produce energy to mean that Ghanaians are not paying the realistic tariffs, while there are companies and state institutions who owe them (ECG) huge sums of money. According to the leading member of FONKA, if Ghanaians continue to condone the poor servitude from ECG, the same ineptitude will repeat itself every year, but quickly added that Ghanaians must not accept this tariff increment as the only means to improve the energy situation in the country. He said President Mahama must take the necessary risk and come out with a bold decision by sacking the leaders who are put in charge to run the affairs of institutions but have failed awfully. Owusu-Bempah said that it is only in Ghana that ECG can come out of this without been taken on for their incompetence and negligence; adding that someones ineptitude is not an excuse to force Ghanaians to pay for their (ECG) bad services. He further said that the nation has lost focus and the leaders lack long term plans to solve the energy crises in the country; what are we doing for alternative source of energy supply in the country which will help Ghana to be stable on the path of success. He slammed those with the opinion that solar energy is very expensive; saying that Ghana will losing more money with the energy crises in the country than its investment in the solar energy generation, since the absence of energy will affect productivity in the country.
