Murder At Abuakwa: Two Arrested

Two people have been arrested following the brutal murder of Akwasi Yeboah, a 14-year-old student at Abuakwa, in the Ashanti Region. Akwasi Yeboah Opoku was beheaded in the early hours of Monday by an unknown assailant. Akwasi Yeboahs mother, Felicity Opoku as well as his 16-year-old sister, Rita Opoku were also seriously butchered but are currently responding to treatment at the hospital. Before this horrific incident, the Opoku family were mourning the death of their father and husband, Pastor John Opoku, head pastor of King Jesus Anointing Ministry. Speaking in an interview on Peace FMs Morning show Kokrokoo on Wednesday, ASP Mohammed Yusif Tanko, Ashanti Regional Police PRO said the two; 42 year-old James Akwasi Apau, and 64 year-old Kofi Adjei were arrested to assist the police in their investigations. According to him, the two men are relatives of the victims and based on the sour relationship between them (victims and two arrested men), they suspect they may have a hand or be connected to the killing and assault. We have arrested two people but we dont have any direct evidence against them...for now we have arrested them as suspects to answer a few questions and to help us in our investigations. "Looking at the bad relationship between the extended family of the late Pastor Johnson and his nuclear family concerning the properties, we suspect that they can be of help in our investigations because immediately after the death of the pastor, the relatives started fighting over the property with his wife. We suspect that the three victims were assaulted because they stand to inherit the properties left behind by the pastor ASP said. Meanwhile, according to ASP Tanko, Rita Opoku has been discharged and the mother is still responding to treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. We dont want to pre-empt anything. After the investigations we will make known the details he added.
