NAGRAT And GNAT Suspend Strike

Barring any last minute changes, the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) will be suspending their strike action today. President John Dramani Mahama met with executives of both parties and stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the strike action and to plead with the teachers to go back to the classroom. He pleaded with the teachers to put the interest of the nation first and consider the effect the timing of their strike will have on their students. Speaking in an interview on Peace FMs morning show Kokrokoo President of GNAT, Samuel Doe indicated their commitment to return to the classroom. According to him, both groups will hold a press conference today and put out the results of their decision. Our only consolidation is that the president has promised and so we will hold the president by his word. Whatever we have arrived at, we will put it out later this afternoon. We are considering the appeal of the President and whatever the final arrangement is, you will be told he said.
