Pastor Urges Nana Addo To Withdraw Election Petition

The Suhum District Pastor of Praise Valley Temple International, Rev. Francis Aggrey, has observed that Ghana would not see peace if Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the just-ended 2012 presidential election, did not forgive President John Dramani Mahama over the ongoing election dispute. Speaking to The Chronicle in an interview shortly after the churchs Easter Sunday Service here in Suhum, Rev. Aggrey mentioned that there was brewing political tension in the country, which could take a different dimension in the coming days, if care was not taken. According to the Man of God, despite the supposed election irregularities, which issue is currently in court, it would be imperative for Nana Addo to accept the outcome of the just-ended election. Rev. Aggrey disclosed that the call on Nana Addo to throw in the towel, if done, would not make him (Nana) a weak vessel and a defeated person, but rather go a long way to demonstrate the love he had for the country. He explained that the battle is the Lords, and until the Lord builds, labour to do so would always be in vain. If it is the wish of God that Nana becomes a president of this country, it matters not his age and the work of man, it will surely be. To this end, he has launched a passionate appeal to the leadership of the NPP, particularly Nana Addo, to immediately consider withdrawing the case for an out of court settlement. This, he contended, if done, would be the greatest forgiveness Nana Addo could give to President Mahama at a time the world, of which Ghana is part, celebrates the death and resurrection of Christ. Preaching on the theme Abundance Grace, the Suhum-based Pastor intimated that Christ demonstrated His love for mankind on the cross, and it would be a great sacrifice for Ghana if Nana Addo withdrew the case in court. I pray that Nana Addo will forgive President Mahama and the NDC by withdrawing the case he (Nana) and the NPP have sent to court for legal redress, since he relatively has some time on his side to become a president, he prayed. He further appealed to Ghanaians, particularly, politicians, to allow the death and resurrection of Christ make the smoke the peace pipe, since anything short of that would plunge the country into chaos. The Founder of the church, Bishop Bernard Owusu Ansah, on his part, reiterated that Ghana was bigger than the two great sons of the land who had benefited from the country. According to the Praise Valley Temple International Bishop, peace and tranquility were the only reciprocal gestures Nana Addo and President Mahama could give to Ghana.
