The head of Public Affairs of the Fair Wages and Salary Commission (FWSC), Mr. Earl Ankrah has cautioned government workers not to direct their anger on the commission since they aren�t in charge of doling out monies to ensure all government workers are paid. This follows the recent attacks which were unleashed on Mr. Ankrah by some angry workers from the health sector who described him as a �liar� and someone who says things solely to please his own ears. Speaking on the issue on Okay FM, Mr. Earl Ankrah told Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, the host that the Fair Wages and Salary Commission only �determine salaries of workers, the percentage and the salary grading�. He called on government workers especially the doctors on strike not to direct their discrepancies to their doorsteps since they (FWSC) have nothing to do with payments. �The real payments don�t come from us, we only confer with the ministry of finance and inform them the amount to pay and ask them if they are ready to pay the amount�, he said. He further explained that the commission never pressured the finance ministry to pay monies to government workers but only gave them the guidelines to use in paying them. �We tell them this is what to pay and how are you going to pay�, he noted.
