Achimota Golf Course To Be Closed Down For Renovation

Achimota Golf Course, the nation�s premium golf course has signed an agreement with Tullow Oil to have a major redesign and upgrade all 18 holes of its current course to bring the course to world-class standards. Paul McGinley European Ryder Cup Captain and owner/founder of McGinley Design, a leading gold course construction firm are undertaking this assignment. Briefing newsmen at the golf course on Tuesday 9th April 2013, the current captain of the Club, Mr. Rene Gameli-Kwame mentioned that, as part of this development the entire golf course will be officially closed from April 15, 2013 to its members and the general public till all major construction works on the course are completed. As a follow up to the official closing, the Council is inviting all paid up members to participate in a 9 hole competition on Saturday the 13th of April 2013 to commemorate the closing of the course and also afford members a tour of the construction work to upgrade the half-way section to see the progress of work. There will be prizes for winners of the tournament and refreshments for all participants. This will be followed with a town hall meeting at the clubhouse to discuss the future of the club. Members are welcome to this historic interaction. To ensure that members still keep their form, the ultra modern driving range at the Achimota Gold Academy will be opened for Members and the General Public to practice 6am to 9:00 pm Monday through Sunday. The Driving Range is flood light and equipped with modern facilities as well as a standby generator, the 1st of its kind in West Africa.
