Minister Counsels Land Owners

The Western Regional Minister, E.K.T Addo has called on land owners in the region to use their landed property as equity for investment rather than sell them outrightly to investors. The minister said that the acquisition of land in the country was extremely cumbersome. He therefore called on officials of the Lands Administration to make efforts to reduce the burden of people who acquire lands. According to him, the Western Regional Spatial Development Framework would help to streamline land management in the region. �It is my hope that the framework shall be replicated in all the districts of the region to make the issue of land acquisition smooth and timely. Addressing some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region, Mr. Addo noted that the success of the framework depends on its acceptability by land owners and the enforcement capacity of MMDAs. �As policy implementers, we must all play our part well by facilitating for prospective investors through right channel in our forward march towards achieving the �Better Ghana Agenda.� He stressed that government would continue to provide an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive to expand the economy to absorb the teeming unemployed youth. �Government is very much conscious of the challenges that confront us as a nation and is doing everything possible to expand the infrastructural base to reduce the cost of doing business in the country,� he noted. The regional minister added that government was committed to industrial policies that sought to transform Ghana into an industry and technology-driven economy capable of delivering decent jobs.
