Eight Illegal Lumbers Arrested In Damongo

The Mole Game Reserve Security Guards have arrested eight local agents of some Chinese illegal Lumbers operating in the West Gonja district of the northern region. They were handed over to the Damongo police for the right sanctions to be applied on them. There has been a public outcry on the wanton cutting of trees in the West Gonja district which is gradually affecting the Mole Game Reserve. Member of Parliament for Damongo, Hon. Adam Mutawakil and the Gonjaland Youth Association have waged war against such activities. The Damongo MP in an interview with Citi News commended the Mole Game Reserve Guards for living beyond reproach. He also praised the chiefs and vigilante groups in the area for complementing the efforts of security operatives to flush out the illegal Lumbers. Hon. Mutawakil further applauded the Minister for Lands and Forestry, Hon. Inusah Fuseini, for disapproving such activities, and therefore, called for concerted efforts to curb the situation, as a means of preserving the ecology.
