Ghana's Media Landscape Is Like A Jungle - Wereko Brobbey

The former Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority has painted a bleak picture of the media landscape on the occasion of the World press Freedom Day. Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey stated that the media landscape is like a jungle without any rules to ensure professionalism. He was delivering a lecture organized by the Ghana Journalists Association to mark todays World Press Freedom Day. With regards to the controversial issue- Media freedom and Informed Populace, Dr Wereko-Brobbey stated that the proliferation of the media has not had the expected impact. He added that control of frequency in the country by the NCA is injurious to press freedom. Dr. Wereko Brobbey added that the only way the media can insulate itself from political control is to hand over management responsibility entirely to the National Media Commission.
