Bawumia Electrifies Funeral Ground

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the star witness in the ongoing presidential election petition at the Supreme Court, was hailed at a funeral at the Calvary Methodist Church on the Barnes Road in Accra last Saturday. Dr Bawumia, the 2012 presidential running mate of NPP who came very early to participate in the funeral service of Mrs Mary Adwoa Quaicoe and her son, Frederick Minta Quaicoe, was not noticed until he stood up to participate in the offertory. As soon as the members of the congregation sighted him, the whole atmosphere in the church changed, with shouts of Dr Pink Sheets, the members temporarily forgetting that they were at a funeral service. Some people followed him, waving white handkerchiefs as he proceeded to the sanctuary to give his offering. The situation became very ecstatic and rapturous when he was finally introduced by the officiating clergy. It took more than 10 minutes for the shouts to die down to enable the clergy to continue with the announcement. Another interesting aspect of the event was that immediately after the funeral service, everybody wanted to have a photograph with him, which he willingly obliged. The funeral service of the Quaicoes was attended by high profile businessmen and women, politicians from both divide and officials from the banking industry. The late Mrs Quaicoe and Frederick were the mother and brother respectively of Mrs Mavis Kitcher, Editor of the Junior Graphic, one of the weekly brands of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd.
