Respondents Threaten To Pull Out Of Pink Sheet Audit

Lawyers for the first and third respondents in the on-going election petition case at the Supreme Court are reportedly threatening to pull out of the agreed audit of the pink sheets submitted by the petitioners as evidence in the case. It is believed they issued the threat after they were denied entry to the venue where the audit is being done by the officials of KPMG. They have since requested an emergency meeting with the president of the panel, Justice William Atuguba seeking to vary the courts orders. Lawyers for both sides have confirmed the incident to Citi News stating that the parties were asked to send representatives for the recount. The Supreme Court ordered recount of the pink sheets after the respondents alleged they received less than 11, 842, the petitioners said they submitted. The court ordered for the recounting to be done in the presence of the representatives of all parties involved in the case. It is unclear why lawyers for the first and third respondents are seeking access to the venue where the recount is being done. Three leading members of the New Patriotic Party, NPP , the presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo, his running mate , Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and the partys national chairman, Jake Obetsibi Lamptey are challenging the validity of the 2012 presidential elections.
