The Coalition of Concerned Ga Groups, Traditional and Opinion Leaders of Accra are calling for the dismissal of the Mayor of Accra, Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije for misappropriating funds running into several millions of cedis.
They want President John Mahama to institute a probe into Dr. Oko Vaderpuye�s tenure as the Mayor.
The Convener for the Coalition, Rashad Yasin Ofei Dodoo speaking at a press briefing on Thursday said: �Monies totaling about 1.3 billion were released within the audit period for the construction of school periods to end the school shift system within the metropolis without passing through the tendering process which is in contravention with the Public Procurement Act.�
He also mentioned that �funds released for the millennium school project were without contract documents.�
Mr. Dodoo alleged that the Accra Mayor �within a short span of time, bought a large mansion at Macarthy hill for which he used AMA labor and facility to construct the road leading to his house.�
The Coalition also stated that the Ga state has been left deplorable under the leadership of Dr. Vaderpuije.
�The Chiefs of the Ga state live in very deplorable conditions because the assembly has neglected them.
They are rarely consulted on matters of interest and as custodians of the land, we expect the Mayor to consult the Chiefs regularly on pertinent matters concerning the administration of the city.�
