Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, the last son of Ghana�s first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah says the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) should not use the circumstances surrounding his father�s death to run away from answering pertinent questions being asked concerning late President John Mills� death. His comments come on the heels of former Chief of Staff, Nana Ato Dadzie�s comments that Sekou Nkrumah himself appears to be ignorant of what actually killed his own father. Speaking on Joy FM on Saturday July 27, Nana Ato Dadzie contested Dr. Sekou Nkrumah�s knowledge of his own father�s death and used that as a basis to question the latter�s justification in demanding details of the cause of President Mills� death. �Sekou says that his father died of prostate cancer, but we all do know that skin cancer was a major factor,� Mr. Ato Dadzie insisted on the programme. His intervention was a sequel to fellow discussant Kweku Baako Jnr�s assertions that the August 11, 1962 Kulungugu bombing incident, which was an assassination attempt on Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was �part of the reasons why he died�. The New Crusading Guide Newspaper Editor-in-Chief said despite earlier claims by officialdom that Dr. Nkrumah escaped the assassination attempt unscathed, he sustained injuries which later played a role in his death. Dr. Nkrumah however told XYZ News that the issue is not about Nkrumah. ��The issue is that was Prof Mills sick? And if it is yes, how long has he been sick and what kind of sickness, because if it is a serious sickness like cancer� as former President John Rawlings had told the BBC, �then was Prof. Mills fit to continue to be in office? I think that�s the question that concerns Ghanaians but I�m not too sure why the NDC leadership wants to twist things around to make it appear that people are saying who killed Prof. Mills or what did Prof Mills die from�. Calls for the cause of the late President were resuscitated last week during the week-long celebration of the first year anniversary of the late President�s passing. Speculations became rife again about what killed Prof. Mills and the processes and circumstances that led to his death. Former Director General of the Ghana Health Service and renowned pathologist, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa contributed to the debate by calling for investigations into the processes of his death rather than focusing on what killed the late President.
