2013 Farmers' Day Will Be Unique-Committee

Mr Christopher Anyigba, the Chairman of the Planning Committee for this years National Farmers Day celebration, has said the event scheduled for Sogakope in the Volta Region would be unique. We are not content with the status quo. We want to celebrate our farmers, not only give them awards, he said. Mr Anyigba said this after Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Volta Regional Minister, had inaugurated a 17-member Planning Committee in Ho. He said the Planning Committee was introducing innovative events to make the 29th edition of the celebration, which is on the theme, reducing post harvest losses for sustainable food security and nutrition, very memorable. Mr Anyigba said the main aim of the Committee was to make farmers proud on the day and showcase the sector as productive and worth investing in. The National Farmers Day was instituted in 1985 to honour farmers and fishermen for their contribution to food security in the country.
