Peace Is A By-Product Of Justice

I set off here, with recourse to the statement that, Peace is a by-product of justice. This strongly suggests that, justice for all is peace for all. Therefore, as citizens and inhabitants of this country, we should be guided by that. What has necessitated, is the news that Stephen Atubiga, a known NDC activist who was convicted by the apex court of the land for making contemptuous comments pertaining to the on going Presidential Petition case before it, has been granted permission by the police to stage a procession in Accra, dubbed Peace March. This, we find very selective on the part of the police who in recent times have disallowed plans by other groups to embark on processions or demonstrations, even though, it is within their rights, by Article 21(1)(d) of the constitution. Fresh in our minds, is that of the People's Progressive Party(PPP), a recognised political party under the laws of the state and some Nurses within our health sector, who in fact wanted to do that to push home their economic rights. The question is, why are they denied, while a known NDC man who has the penchant of making irresponsible and hate speeches as asserted by himself, be singled out and given the permit by the police? What is good for the goose is more than good for the gander. Ghana police, this selective application must stop. Ghana is for us all. Back to the subject matter of his calculated procession, which he claims is to talk peace. I would like to ask, Is our dear country at war? The answer to this, is clear to all I believe. So,why this attempt to paint the nation as such by Atubiga and his cohorts. What we should all be concerned about now is JUSTICE, which emanates from the people and out of which the peace so cherished is achieved. We would like to say again that going to court to seek redress must not be construed to mean we are at war as a country, for that is the platform chosen by the laws of this land for justice delivery. We the youth of NPP are of the view that, the Constitution of this country by article 231 ordered the establishment of a National Commission for Civic Education, through an act of Parliament and thereof, given functions by article 233 to inta alia, educate and encourage the public to defend this constitution at all times, against all forms of abuse and violations. Hence, the NCCE and not Atubiga, is chosen by our laws for such duties. We see this attempt by them, as a means to perverse what is just in the name of peace. In conclusion, we call on all Ghanaians to invoke the provision of article 3 of the constitution and defend same in order to ensure justice for all.
