Media Reaffirm Commitment To Neutrality Ahead Of Supreme Court Verdict

In order to ensure lasting peace during and after the Supreme Court verdict, the Police Service has met the National Media Commission to discuss ways to sanitise and control the media landscape. The meeting forms part of a series of programmes by the Police to brainstorm on how best stakeholders can assist in the peace campaign. Some weeks ago, the Police Service met with members of the NDC and is yet to meet the NPP. The Service has also met leaders of the Muslim Community. Speaking to Radio Ghana, the Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur said though they have the necessary logistics, it is prudent to engage the media to be neutral in their reportage and not inflame passion. Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the National Media Commission, George Sarpong says they will collaborate with the Police and other stakeholders to ensure law and order in the country. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Sarpong noted that the Media will rise up to the occasion at the crucial moment to maintain the existing peace.
