One formidable force within the New Patriotic Party that always causes a stir when the issue of who leads the party is discussed is Mr. Alan Kyeremanten. Aside Nana Akufo Addo, he was one individual who pulled quite a significant number of votes during the party�s congress to elect a flagbearer in 2010. But even before he announces his intentions to partake in the upcoming congress, he has been warned by Mr. P.C Appiah Ofori not to test the waters this time round. According to the former Member of Parliament for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Mr. Kyeremanten would be a bad loser should he be given the chance to lead the NPP into any presidential elections. His reason for foiling Mr. Kyeremanten�s presidential ambition is that during the tenure of ex-President Kufour, he failed miserably when he was made to spearhead the President�s Special Initiatives (PSI). The brain behind the innovative programme was to produces high grade industrial starch from cassava for export to key markets in Europe, Africa and Asia. It was also aimed at creating over 10,000 jobs and developing an innovative approach in rural industry development based on the concept of Corporate Village Enterprises. But in Mr. Appiah Ofori�s view, none of this flourished under Mr. Kyeremanten. Speaking on OKAY FM, he asserted that if the NPP is to give him any chance, their main opponent which is the NDC would win elections on a silver platter. In a sarcastic manner, P.C. noted that if the former Trade and Industry Minister could not manage common cassava, how can he be given the chance to manage the resources of Ghana as President.
