Laptops supplied by the Government to schools are for students� academic work and not for the private use of teachers, Mr. Francis Kofi Korankye, District Chief Executive (DCE) of Heman-Lower-Denkyira has said.
According to him, reports reaching his office indicated that some teachers in other districts were using the laptop as their personal property.
Mr. Korankye was addressing the general meeting of the District Assembly at Twifo Heman where he used the occasion to warn teachers in the district to refrain from that tendency because they will be sanctioned when caught.
The DCE, together with the Assembly members expressed concern over the exorbitant fares charged by drivers who ply the district and warned against such unpatriotic acts.
On revenue, Mr. Korankye regretted that the Assembly could not achieve its target of GHC228,672.00 of internally generated funds from January to August 2013, having been able to bag only 88,607.00, representing 38.75 per cent of the target.
He said the district also over spent its revenue budget by GHC604.56 and added that this was not good enough as a new Assembly and that the trend must change.
�I cannot be a happy man standing in front of the house delivering this address because our financial situation is nothing to write home about� he declared.
Mr. Korankye said revenue mobilization had fallen so much so that the District Assembly could sometimes not summon meetings to plan and exploit the numerous potentials at its disposal to help turn its fortunes around.
At the meeting, efforts to elect a Presiding Member for the Assembly failed as the two men who were finally nominated could not get the required two-thirds majority of the 27 votes cast.
