ECOBANK Donate Items To 25 Selected Schools

As part of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Ecobank group, the bank has donated items worth GhC 289,000 to twenty-five selected schools all over the country. At an event over the weekend, the donation which was part of the bank�s Corporate Social Responsibility as well as the 25th anniversary of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the parent company of Ecobank Ghana, saw Ecobankers carrying out charitable activities in 25 locations across the country and in 33 African countries as well. According to the Mr. Eddy Ogbogu, the Executive Director of Operations and Technology of the bank, Ecobank Day, which would remain as the first Saturday of October each year, would be set aside to undertake CSR initiatives in various countries. Mr. Ogbogu further stated that the focus of the maiden edition was to provide the needed educational facilities that would help to improve teaching and learning in public schools. ��Amongst the items include; Ecobank branded exercise books, white boards, school dual desk, teachers� tables and chairs and computers.�� �Also the bank undertook light renovation works in some schools to give them the needed facelift,� he revealed. He further disclosed that objective of the CSR is �to inspire and energize Ecobankers to use their collective talents and resources to make a positive difference to their local communities.� He added that by these donations however, Ecobank is making a strong commitment that it will continue to be a good corporate citizen. �We will continue to conduct our business activities in an ethically acceptable manner towards all stakeholders, whilst contributing our quota towards the socioeconomic development of our local communities and the country at large.�� He appealed to all heads of the beneficiary schools to protect the assets that have been given to them, so that future generations of pupils and students would also benefit from their use.
