Two Die In Accident At Gomoa Okyereko

Two people have been confirmed dead in a fatal accident that occurred at Gomoa Okyereko on the Winneba-Accra road on Saturday. The two, both males were on board a Toyota Echo taxi cab with registration number GS 6224-13 and were from Winneba direction heading towards Accra when the taxi collided just before the main Okyereko Bridge with a Metro Mass Benz Bus with registration number AS6062-10 which was from Accra to Cape Coats. The bodies of the deceased whose identities were unknown at the time of filing this report have been deposited at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist hospital while a female in the Metro Mass who got severely injured is also receiving medical attention at the same hospital. The Winneba District Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Superintendent of Police, John Paul Akonde told the Daily Graphic in an interview that the accident occurred around 4:10pm when the driver of the taxi cab made a dangerous overtaking, veered off into the lane of the Benz Bus and collided head on. According to him, the driver of the taxi cab and another passenger in the car died instantly while a female on board the bus sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
