Were Not Afraid Of CairoSays Yammin

Deputy Minister for Youth hand Sports Joseph Yammin says his confidence in the Black Stars to scale over the Egyptian hurdle remains unchanged. The Deputy Sports Minister said his outfit had reservations following FIFAs decision to declare Cairo safe despite GFAs protest for change of venue due to the political tension in Egypt. Notwithstanding FIFAs decision, he said in an interview after the verdict, even if they take the game to their presidential palace, we will defeat them. I can trust the FA, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah and Gyan and his boys to even beat Egypt on home soil. The GFA wrote to FIFA to change the venue for their November 19 World Cup play-off game, but he request fell on deaf ears. Consequently, FIFA cleared Cairo as venue for the return leg of the World Cup playoff, assuring the four-time African champions, Ghana, that the Cairo Military Stadium would be safe for use on the said day. Ghana thrashed Egypt 6-1 in the first leg on October 15 at the Baba Yara Stadium. Meanwhile, the Black Stars will camp in Ethiopia ahead of the second-leg clash against Egypt. The Ghana players will be camping in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa from 11th November. They will arrive in Cairo on 18 November for the match to be played on 19 November at the Air Defence Stadium.
