Prez Mahama Lacks Leadership SkillsHe Doesnt Need Support To Fight Corruption

A Member of Parliament for Berekum East in the Brong Ahafo Region, Dr. Kwabena Twum-Nuamah has differed strongly with former President Jerry John Rawlings assertions that President John Dramani Mahama needs public support to effectively manage the country and rid it of corruption. He believes the presidents lack of will to lawfully deal with those who engaged in corruption has compounded the countrys economic hardship. In a keynote address at this years Hogbetsotso festival of the people of Anlo, the former president noted that although President Mahama is a fine leader who perhaps is too gentle for the current political dispensation, some personalities around him have attributes, that cannot auger well for the smooth management of the state. He called on opinion leaders such as chiefs and the Council of State not to hesitate to point out the truth to the President because he has the countrys interest at heart and could only succeed if his advisers do not hide facts from him. Ex-President Rawlings who was the special guest of honor at the annual Hogbetsotso festival held at Anloga on Saturday, said people have a responsibility to endorse leadership that protects the people and supports socio-economic development that benefits not only a select few. But speaking on Hot Fm, Dr. Kwabena Twum-Nuamah averred that the indecisive nature of President Mahama to deal with corruption in the GYEEDA report which Hon. Alban Bagbin mentioned has paved way for others to do whatever they pleased. ..as a leader, you should be bold and precise in your decision but this is what our President lacks as he indicated in his book My First Coup Dtat. As a leader his interest should be the well-being of the masses and not the few in his party, he opined. The NPP MP further posited that President Mahama has turned a blind eye to the innumerous corrupt issues which have been raised in his government because he does not want to offend anybody in his party. it is time for President Mahama to come out strongly on his ministers and appointees who are indulging in corrupt practices to deter others from doing same...as at now, what we are facing in this country is leadership crisis; leadership is the core and any other thing is the effect. The running of the country has been reduced to the survival of the fittestPresident Mahama lacks leadership skills, he stressed.
