17-Man Committee To Plan Mfantsipim 150TH Anniversary

The Mfantsipim School Development Committee has constituted a 17-Member Anniversary Planning Committee to evolve and design a framework for the event architecture, planning and administration for the 150th anniversary celebrations of the School. Membership of the Committee shall include a representative each of the ten Sponsoring Year Groups; the Methodist Church Ghana; the Ghana Education Service (GES); Cape Coast Traditional Council; Cape Coast Municipal Assembly (CCMA); and a Chairman. The inauguration of the Committee has been fixed for Friday, 29th November, 2013 with Hon. Ebo Barton Oduro, 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament as the Special Guest of Honour to address the occasion and inaugurate the Committee. The Committee has within two months after its inauguration to submit its 150th Anniversary Celebrations Planning Report to the Board of Governors. The Committees Report should have a detailed step-by-step year-long plan and road map for the benchmarking celebrations of the Schools 150th Celebrations in 2026 and starting with the 140th Anniversary Celebrations in 2016 under the 10 Years, 10 Projects campaign. The theme for the decade long celebrations from 140th to 150th Anniversaries, however will be MFANTSIPIM AND THE MAKING OF GHANA, after the title of the book commissioned and authored by the late old boy, Prof. Adu Boahen, with each other Speech Day considering one aspect of Mfantsipims contributions to the Making of Ghana story. It is further proposed that the 150th Anniversary celebrations would cover a period of one calendar year, starting April 2025 to April 2026 with a Founders Thanksgiving Day Service.
