Teacher Trainees Boycott Classes...

Teacher trainees in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions this morning boycotted classes to register their protest over their allowance which has been scrapped by government. Speaking to HELLO FMs King Edward this morning the group noted that they have sent letters to the various principals of Colleges of Education to notify them of their boycott. Amoakwa Yaw Richardson, SRC President for Akrokerri College of Education who spoke to HELLO FM said although teachers are in school to teach, they are abstaining from class until their demands are met by government. The Teacher Trainees' Association of Ghana have petitioned the government, both sector and National levels through all channels available to dialogue with the government to rescind its decision to scrap teacher trainee's allowance but to no avail. The group reiterated that until government gives them a listening ear they will continue to boycott classes. The group are preparing to meet to fix a date for their impending nationwide demonstration
