Pressure group, Truth and Accountability Forum (TAF) has described John Mahama�s appraisal of Ministers as cheap populism. The appraisal is based on targets set by the ministers in line with the vision of the president. All ministers have submitted reports to the policy unit at the presidency on what they have been able to achieve in the year 2013. Minister for Education Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and Energy and Petroleum Minister Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah have completed their appraisal at the Flagstaff House. Details of the assessment according to Deputy Information and Media Relations Minister, Murtala Mohammed, will soon be made public. But spokesperson for TAF, Saka Salia said assessing ministers based on what they have done and not targets set by the president is a total failure. He noted that President Mahama�s assessment of ministers is �just to deceive Ghanaians into thinking that the government is working hard�. TAF spokesperson indicated that every regime has ways of ensuring people given positions perform to the expectation of the employer therefore �if you [Mahama] give the person a leeway to operate and you come and say you are assessing the person, it looks very deceptive�. Saka Salia said ministers should be assessed based on the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto and how they were able to achieve it.
