Minister Promises To Strengthen Relations With Media

Dr. Samuel Sarpong, the Central Regional Minister, on Thursday expressed gratitude to journalists in the Region and assured them of his commitment to further strengthen the relationship between his office and the media. He said he recognised the vital role the media had played in his one year administration culminating in his being voted the best Regional Minister in the country, adding that the medias role in national development cannot be overemphasized. Dr. Sarpong has also been awarded an Peristrofi Honorary International Award by the Swedish Institute of Pentecostal studies for being a self-oriented and hardworking Minister. The Minister was interacting with the Executives of the Central Region Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association when they called on him in his office to congratulate him and also discuss pertinent issues concerning the Region. It is the effort of the media that made this honour possible and there shall be improvement in the coming years! he said. Dr. Sarpong urged journalists not to hesitate to draw his attention if he faltered for him to make the necessary amendments. Mrs. Alice Tettey, chairman of the Central Region GJA, had earlier reaffirmed that the core mandate of the media in general was to promote national interest and that they would continue to work hard to ensure national cohesion. She appealed to the Minister to assist the Association to secure land for the construction of an office for the GJA to enhance its activities and ensure effective administration of the Association.
