THE UPPER West Regional Minister, Dr. Ephraim Avea Nsoh has advised Municipal and District Chief Executives not to be arm chair appointees in the region. According to him, all appointees are to go to the field to supervise projects in their various districts to see what the contractors are doing and get in touch with the people in their communities. Speaking at the swearing in of the newly elected DCE for Wa East, Mr. Abdul Karimu Abudu, he said MMDCEs must work to achieve the vision of their districts and President Mahama. He also urged the new DCE to accept criticism in good faith and not be deterred by them, adding that criticism would go a long way to fortify him. As political heads representing the President in the district, the majority of the people you serve would give you a golden crown if you conduct the administration well and face all manner of criticisms if you fall short of their expectations, he said. �You should resolve to be �number one servant� of the people in your areas of operation because it is only when you serve them well that they will also be proud to serve you,� he told the DCE. Dr. Nsoh cautioned the appointees to be wary of sycophants and talebearers, who for their own selfish interests might be parading their corridors. The new DCE, Mr. Abudu, after swearing the oath of allegiance and secrecy said he had accepted the position as a responsibility rather than a privilege and promised to defend virtues of the plans, policies and programmes of the government, for the overall development of the District. He thanked President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Funsi for the confidence reposed in him, adding that the Chiefs and people of the area should live above board and work hard towards the development of the district.
