Street Naming Will Be Completed On Schedule Baba Jamal

Deputy Local Government Minister Baba Jamal has reiterated that the ministry will complete the first phase of the street naming exercise on schedule. Last year President Mahama gave an ultimatum of 18 months for local assemblies to complete the first phase of the street naming project. The first phase includes the naming of streets and properties alongside the streets in all the districts. Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show Baba Jamal said basically we are still sticking to the 18 months ultimatum where there is basic information on the ground, the streets will be named and all the house numbers will be properly done. He was optimistic that they will be able to complete the exercise by the deadline because the DCEs have begun collating the names and addresses of the various properties in the district. Mr. Baba Jamal also stated that the project would take a look at the siting of billboards around the city of Accra and all the over the country. So if Greater Accra is doing something that is different from the policy surely it will be addressed in the course of time, he assured. He further mentioned that a committee has been established to investigate the comments made the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ahafo Ano South in the Ashanti Region, Mr Gabriel Barima adding that in some few weeks the necessary action will be taken based on the findings.
