Madam Louisa Edzii, General Manager of Edzii Goil Filling Station, said some motorists in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis were hesitant to buy petroleum products after being informed of the increase in prices.
She said the fuel station calibrated its machines after it received the new fuel prices from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) on Saturday morning and that most motorists were not aware of the new prices.
Madam Edzii, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said petrol had been increased from 2.33 pesewas to 2.40 pesewas per litre while diesel increased from 2.42 pesewas to 2.50 pesewas per litre.
A private vehicle owner, Charles Tekyi, said he would park his car and board commercial transport because the cost of fueling the vehicle was throwing his monthly budget out of gear.
�In fact, the prices of petroleum products are having a toll on my finances so I will rather use the vehicle during the weekends,� he said.
The NPA increased prices of petroleum products for the second time this year on Saturday, February 1, with petrol being increased by three per cent; diesel by 3.31 per cent and kerosene 1.24 per cent.
Liquefied Petroleum Gas and Premix fuel did not receive any upward adjustment.
