THE SACHET Water Retailers Association in Kumasi has raised the price of sachet water to 20Gp effective Monday February 10, 2014.
Madam Abena Serwaa, secretary to the Association, said the hike would help them offset labour cost and handling charges. She also explained that there was the need to cushion transportation and fuel cost as well as market tolls.
According to her, the retail price had for a long time been pegged at 10Gp at retailers disadvantage and hoped the increase would help retailers break even in the face of overhead costs including electricity and water tariffs, which are abnormally on the rise.Madam Serwaa said the decision of the association would ensure that members are in business against the producer prices and economic trends in the market.
