The National Executives of NASPA have always shared in what service personnel consider as the challenges of the Scheme particularly the major one being insufficient allowances.
The call for increase in personnel allowances has not been incessant because NASPA is not oblivious of the economic challenges facing the country.
In line with the Executive Directors assurance at the just ended NSAPA Congress in Tamale that personnel allowances would be increased, I wish to announce to all service personnel that the monthly non-taxable allowances have been increased from GH243.48 to GH350.00 with effect from January, 2014.
A statement by the President of NASPA, Vicent Ekow Assafuah Jnr., said: �As NASPA, we are highly confident that this news has been received with warm hearts. On my part as President, with the National Executive Committee (NEC), we want to send our heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency the President of The Republic of Ghana and the government. We further wish to appreciate the efforts of the National Service Board, Management of the Scheme and the Executive Director, Alhaji Alhassan Imoro for showing such sensitive. To all who have shown magnanimity to the course of pressing for increment of our allowances, especially the immediate out-gone NEC, we are grateful.�
�We want to assure all service personnel that we shall continue to work for the welfare of members. As government continues to commit efforts into strengthening the economy for sustainable development and a better Ghana, let us be mindful that all of us are involved, especially as young graduates in helping to build the economy,� it said.
It said: �We therefore want to use this platform to make a clarion call on all government institutions and organizations as well as the general public to emulate NASPA by engaging authorities in healthy deliberations to love and serve our country towards the progress of our society.�
�Finally, it is important to remind ourselves that the increment in our allowances also calls for increased efforts in our contribution at our various work places to ensure maximum output,� it said.
