Robber Mocks Police Service

A Robber among five suspected armed robbers busted by the police in Koforidua, Francis Mensah, nineteen, has told the Police that the gladly prepares food, eat and take a bath after robbing hos victims.

The suspect is said to have adopted the style to spite officers of the Ghana Police Service since he joined the robbery gang years ago.

The other suspects busted by the Eastern Regional police command were Foster Kwame Adu, 24, Peter Nuwotor, 19, Kwabena Darko, 20, a driver�s mate Kwame Musa, 24, a scrap dealer.

Two other accomplices arrested as receivers of the stolen items were Adamu Amadu, 32, and Awudu Adamu, 33, also scrap dealers. The suspects are in police custody.

Briefing the media in Koforidua on Monday, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Nketia Yeboah said five of the robbers, Mensah, Kwame, Darko, Musa and Nuwotor have confirmed robbing 20 houses in the New Juaben Municipality by removing the roofing sheets of their victims through which they enter to rob.

He said, on March 14, last year, at about 11 am, a complainant locked up the house and left for church service and Francis Mensah, one of the suspects, took advantage of the victim�s absence scaled over the fence wall of the house, but detected that the place had been locked.

According to the PRO, the suspect climbed to the roof of the building and used a tool to removed three of the roofing sheets and also destroyed the ceiling of the building and gained access into the room. After the robbery, he prepared food to eat and took a bath before leaving.

He said, the suspect ransacked the rooms in the house and made away with 26 pieces of assorted wax prints, two kente cloths, gold watches, assorted pomade and jewelries all valued at GH20,000.00.

He said the complainant reported the case to the police and investigations led to the arrest of Frnacis Mensah who admitted the offence.

He mentioned Kwame Musah as the receiver of some of the items which were to be offered for sale. The suspects are expected to be arraigned this week.
