Dr. Amoako-Tuffour Endorses Yaw Buaben Asamoa

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Amoako-Tuffuor has in the clearest and most open way, endorsed the candidature of the leading aspirant in the Partys general secretary race, Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoa. As is said in the Akan parlance, sε opanin dware wei a na nsuo asa meaning when an elderly person finishes talking, all other talk must cease. The endorsement by the former Executive Chairman of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) under the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufour administration, on Adom FMs morning show on 25th March 2014, confirms Lawyer Buaben Asamoa as the preferred candidate for the position of chief scribe of the Party. Dr. Amoako Tuffuor stressed that most delegates as well as party members preferred Lawyer Buaben Asamoa, followed by the incumbent general secretary, Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu-Afriye (Sir John). He said Everyone has their choice. It doesnt mean the other contestants are useless. Not at all. I did a critical evaluation devoid of interference. I have my personal choice. Everyone does too. But all that aside, I know very well that if the Party should elect Buaben Asamoa, it will go a really long way to help its fortunes in the upcoming general elections. It will go very well for all of us. According to Dr. Tuffour, his conclusion on the likely victors of the General Secretary, Chairmanship and Youth Organizer races were enabled by thorough observation and qualified information from delegates across the country. He proceeded to task the host, Captain Smart, to ask him of his preference in about 2 weeks to see if he would feed him with a different answer. Lawyer Buaben Asamoas announcement of his intention to contest the position of General Secretary was met with enthusiasm by the rank and file of the Party. As the time draws nearer, the astute lawyers candidature has drawn a number of notable endorsement confirming him as the right man at the right time for the job of chief scribe of the Party. The anti-corruption crusader received his first open endorsement from Hon. Daniel Dugan, a former deputy minister in the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufour administration. Hon Dugan stated that YB, as Buaben Asamoa is widely known, is akin to a messiah. He placed YB on a higher pedestal in comparison with the other competitors. Subsequently, an online social media survey conducted by Poll Runner put Buaben Asamoa ahead of the race with 47% of the votes cast. Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong followed behind with 27.32% whilst Sir John and Captain Effah Darteh obtained 24% and 1.66%, respectively. Whilst touring the Volta Region visiting delegates in all the constituencies, the spokesperson for the Petitioners in the presidential election petition received an overwhelming and confident endorsement from the leadership of TESCON and other Youth Activists of the Party constituting the Patriotic Youth Forum. It is clear that YBs campaign theme Unity to Protect the Ballot has been accepted by the various sects within the Party. By far, Buaben Asamoa is the only candidate who has openly been endorsed by the distinguished members of the Party as well as sects within the Party that constitute a majority of the delegates. The NPP going into its National Executive Committee (NEC) elections come April 12, has a huge responsibility to Ghanaians. Ghanaians including those who voted for NDC want the government out because they are clueless about managing the country and are only concerned about making life better for themselves and their cronies. The NPP cannot fail them. They need to present a united front and be prepared to protect the votes of electorates at the polling station level. There is the need to elect vibrant, effective, strategic and truthful leaders to aid the Party to win the 2016 general elections at all legitimate costs. A reputable General Secretary who can gather all the other executives to rally behind a competent flag bearer is needed. A General Secretary who is not tainted by perceived factionalism within the Party. Lawyer Yaw Buaben Asamoa is needed. In the words of Hon Dugan YB when given the mandate will lead the NPP to Nazareth aka Jubilee House (Flagstaff House).
