SSNIT Goes Biometric

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) is to implement a new Application System for the administration of social security. The system will seek to provide superior service delivery to its stakeholders by employing appropriate technologies. This was disclosed by the Tema Area Manager of SSNIT, Mr. Ahmadu Saliah, at the Biometric Registration Employees seminar held in Tema for all stakeholders on the new facilities. He said the employment of the new application systems would cover enrolment of employers, update of employers records on enrolment and update information on employees and workers. Mr. Saliah noted that the objective is to eliminate multiple member registration through a highly secured biometric registration system, reduce fraud through biometric solution and facilitate member identity management. He disclosed that the social security numbers for newly registered members would be generated and made available to a member or employers and registration would be done within two working days at all SSNIT branches. Mr. Saliah stated the biometric solution will facilitate quick and easy verification of members identity for update of members records, beneficiary information, prompt processing and payment of benefits and elimination of multiple registration. He appealed to stakeholders to co-operate and put in the necessary effort to ensure the success of the project.
