Chinese Ambassador Calls On Information Minister

The Chinese Ambassador, Madam Sun Baohong, on Wednesday praised Ghana for its economic achievements and pledged good working relations between the two countries to achieve more progress. She said Ghana had made lots of contributions towards the growth of the continent at large and China was very happy about those achievements and progress. The Ambassador said this when she paid a working visit to the Ministry of Information and Media Relations, in Accra to officially invite the Minister, Mr Mahama Ayariga to attend the Second Africa-China Cooperation Forum on Media in June, 2014, and reaffirmed China�s commitment towards the bilateral relations. The forum would spell out the cooperation between Africa and China and their commitment to encourage their respective media to play a determining role in deepening mutual understanding and friendship between both parties. She announced that China would invite more Professionals for training in the media to fill the digital divide between developed and developing countries. She said Chinese Media had recognized that Africa had chalked many successes that needed to be promoted internationally and expressed the hope that one day African media would also have the chance to promote stories from China. Ambassador Sun also commended the government for managing the illegal mining issues very effectively and assured the Minister of her country�s preparedness to assist in solving the problems. Mr Ayariga, on his part, said Ghana and China has good bilateral relations and had forged ahead in strategic areas such as energy and the road sectors. He noted that such platforms provide the opportunity to learn new things to enrich one�s knowledge and profile and commended the media for playing a lead role in maintaining the good relations between the two countries. Mr Ayariga recounted numerous invitations his Ministry received from China to train Ghanaian Media and had directed the Ghana Institute of Journalism and National Film and Television Institute to send their representatives.
