The Black Cats could be all but mathematically safe as soon as Sunday evening if Norwich lose at Chelsea. Giggs� future at Old Trafford is shrouded in greater doubt with Louis van Gaal expected to be appointed in the coming days and with the Welshman's role in his set-up as yet unconfirmed.
