A Koforidua Magistrate Court A has adjourned to May 30, the case in which a 51-year-old prophetess is standing trail for allegedly stealing a baby at Nkurakan, in the Eastern Region.
The adjournment was necessitated by the unavailability of an interpreter to translate the court proceedings in Krobo to the victim, Paulina Sasraku.
Agnes Obodiah, the prophetess and the accused is reported to have lured Paulina, 23, who was pregnant to stay with her for prayers at her prayer camp at Nkrakan.
Later, Agnes, who had also faked pregnancy was said to have taken the child from the victim after she had delivered at the Nkrakan Health Center under the pretext of sending the child to the Koforidua Central Hospital for treatment of some alleged complications but absconded with the baby and later claimed the child was hers.
In December, last year Agnes was said to have told the victim that she had seen a revelation concerning her.
Agnes told Paulina she would lose her life during delivery and would therefore, pray for her.
Paulina, who also became scared, explained to Agnes that she has been cursed by her husband, adding that she had no family and thus, pleaded for help.
Agnes who offered to help Paulina succeeded in luring her to stay with her at her supposed prayer camp and ended up stealing the child.
