Computer Literacy Is Relevant To Nation Building � Lady Julia

As part of activities marking the 15th anniversary of the enstoolment of the Asantehene, Lady Julia Osei Tutu , wife of the Asantehene, has inaugurated an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) centre at Kenyase No.1 in the Asutifi North District in the Brong Ahafo Region. The (ICT) centre constructed at a cost of GH�200,000, is known as the Lady Julia Community Knowledge Centre, and was funded by the Otumfuo Charity Foundation, in collaboration with Vital Capital Fund from Israel, to provide access to ICT education for students and the people of the community. Inaugurating the centre, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, the wife of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, said her husband is committed to and concerned about the development of education and quality health care, especially for pupils in the rural communities. She said computer literacy is relevant to nation building because it creates opportunities for business and also the creation of employment. She expressed her appreciation to Vital Capital Fund of Israel for being a reliable development partner and hoped Ghanaians, especially children, will not to be left behind in computer education. The Executive Director of the Otumfuo Charity Foundation, Dr Thomas Agyako-Poku, said the foundation had also introduced a mobile library learning centre for students in the rural areas and urged students and the people in the community to make good use of the facility to broaden their knowledge. The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Mrs Sharon Bar-Li, said it is the desire of the Israeli government to collaborate with the Ghana government for the promotion of the social needs of the people, especially in the rural communities. Mr Ora Stibbe of Vital Capital Fund gave an assurance that the fund will continue to support the Otumfuo Charity Foundation to provide quality and accessible educational facilities for the people. Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, the Omanhene of the Kenyase No1 Traditional Area witnessed the ceremony.
