NPP Gets Dirty Alan Posters Defaced In Akufo-Addos Home Region

The Vile in-fighting and battle of wits within the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) over who becomes the flagbearer of the party for the 2016 general election has become extremely dirty. Akin to secondary school politics, posters of Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, one of the leading contenders for the flagbearership slot of the NPP, are being defaced in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital by some persons believed to be sympathizers of Nana Akufo-Addo, the 2012 presidential candidate of the party. Checks by the Daily Heritage indicated that hours after the posters of Mr. Kyerematen were seen on Monday morning in Koforidua, the intolerant fanatics opposed to Mr. Kyerematen descended on the posters to deface them. Loyalists of Mr. Akufo-Addo, have, however, condemned and dissociated themselves from the act and called for decency in the campaign to elect the next presidential candidate of the NPP. The situation has increased anxiety among supporters of Mr. Kyerematen who are pointing accusing fingers at functionaries of Mr. Akufo-Addo. The angry Alan supporters have threatened to also deface the posters of Mr Akufo-Addo when sighted to reply their action. Residents in Koforidua woke up over the weekend to see posters of Mr. Kyerematen pasted in almost all corners of Koforidua. The posters had the smiling image of Mr. Kyerematen with an inscription boldly written on a high quality NPP colours: "2016 Alan Kyerematen, New Hope." Speaking to the Daily Heritage, a cross section of supporters of Mr. Kyerematen in the regional capital called on the leadership of the party to call their rival supporters to order to avoid any bloody clash. The Eastern regional communications director of the NPP, David Prah told the paper that even though the party is unaware of the situation, it would not hesitate to investigate and call the supporters to order. He also condemned the act and called for calm in the party.
