Security Man In Trouble Over Theft

A security man working with a Kumasi timber firm has been arrested over alleged theft of electrical cables, wood mixers and furniture, costing about GH50,000.00 and belonging to his employers. Ebenezer Kwabena Twumasi has appeared before a circuit court on charges of conspiracy, unlawful entry and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the crime and was granted GH80,000.00 bail to return to the dock on June 17. The court presided over by Mr William Boampong issued a bench warrant for the arrest of his two fugitive accomplices whose names were only given as Eric and Emmanuel. Police Inspector Gulliver K. Tenkorang said the three had been hired by the Top Timbers Company at Kaase-Kumasi and that they stole the items sometime in April. The Managing Director, Mr Yaw Amankra, had traveled outside Kumasi and they took advantage of his absence to commit the crime after which they abandoned their post and went into hiding. They launched another stealing raid on the company in the night of May 23 but the security man on duty was alert and arrested Twumasi but his two colleagues got away. The prosecution said he was handed over to the police and admitted the offence in his statement.
