Dodowa Land Guards On Rampage

PROPERTY OWNERS at Rama Zongo, a suburb of Dodowa in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region are living in fear over consternation in the area by some persons believed to be land guards. The purported land guards, armed to the teeth, were said to have gone vandalising properties and obstructed property owners from embarking on any developmental project on their lands. The incident occurred on last Saturday at about 4:30 pm when a group of young men numbering about five, went about destroying properties and mounted barricades to further prevent residents from entering the Rama Zongo area. Eyewitnesses confirmed to the DAILY GUIDE that thugs wielding cudgels, sledge hammers and crowbars drove in an unregistered Nissan Almeria and went about terrorising the occupants of the building and vandalised their items, until the Dodowa Police came in to forestall sanity in the area. Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, Commander of the Dodowa District Police Headquarters, speaking with DAILY GUIDE denied the land guard activity but only hinted that it was only some individuals fighting over a land. However, he mentioned that police have commenced investigations into the matter to ensure the perpetrators of such act are brought to book.
