Govt. Must Name Corporate Bodies Sponsoring Fans To Brazil

Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wougon constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Hon Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko has applauded a statement indicating that the Ghanaian tax payer will not sponsor any fan to the World Cup in Brazil. He however wants government to be prepared to name the donor corporate organizations sponsoring football fans to the World Cup. According to him, it is refreshing to know that the 500 people going to witness and cheer on the Black Stars at the World Cup will not be going to Brazil at the expense of the tax payer. ..However, if they say all these people are going to watch the World Cup through sponsorship, then when they return they should be ready to tell us the name of the companies so that we thank them for their benevolence, he said on NEAT FMs Me Man Nti programme. The former Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) made this remark on the heels of revelationS by the Chairman of the Travel, Support and Protocol Committee charged with the responsibility of sourcing for funds for the Ghanaian contingent going to the support the Black Stars in Brazil. Hon. Kojo Adu Asare bemoaned the swiftness with which Ghanaians act on falsehoods without taking pains to investigate to ascertain the veracity of any piece of information. According to him, many misconceptions have been formed based on messages being bandied around on social media platforms, especially, WhatsApp and that even affected the fund raising efforts of the Committee.
