National Service Launches Stakeholders� Conference To Address Graduate Unemployment

As a measure to cut down graduate unemployment in the country, the Ghana National Service Scheme yesterday launched a stakeholders� conference at the College of Physicians and Surgeons to deal with the issue. The Executive Director of the scheme, Alhaji Imoro Alhassan, who was present at the launch, stated that the NSS would focus more on engaging agencies to widen ideas to curtail the problem. About 400 organizations and stakeholders have been invited to attend the event. The forum according to Alhaji Imoro, would offer a platform for all to share their experience with the audience. The theme for the conference is �Building Entrepreneurial and Employable Youth for National Development: The Role of the National Service Scheme and Stakeholders�. And it comes off at the National Theatre, Accra on August 7, 2014. Aside creating opportunities for service personnel to access jobs and grow their own businesses, this year�s stakeholders� conference aims at also supporting them to access funds to start a business. Objectives of the Conference The objectives of the conference were listed as follows: �To create a pioneering GNSS event that creates awareness about the work of the GNSS �To create a unique broad-based stakeholders interface which provides a central point deliberations on the strategic imperatives for building the Employability and Job Creation capacity of the Ghanaian youth in the long-term through the sharing of knowledge, expertise and valuable insights. �To create an event which helps to improve the stakeholders� relations and to build lasting partnerships based on trust, transparency and goodwill. �To create a credible and high profile platform to get stakeholder buy-in and to elicit support for activities of the scheme.
