Techiman Impounds Motorbikes With Fake Registration Numbers

The Techiman Municipal Office of the Driver Licensing and Vehicle Authority (DVLA) in collaboration with the Municipal Command of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTD) have impounded about 100 motorbikes in the municipality. They are processing documents and will soon arraign owners of the bikes, with faked registration numbers and documents. Mr Antwi Bosompem, Techiman District Manager of the DVLA, said all the Hadjin motorbikes bore similar but faked registration numbers with AS inscriptions, an indication that the registrations were done in the Ashanti Region. He was speaking to the GNA after some personnel of the Brong-Ahafo Regional Office of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Techiman. The NRSC personnel were in the municipality to intensify the Passenger Empowerment Campaign programme the Commission launched to sensitize and empower passengers to demand safety from drivers whenever they board vehicles. Mr Yaw Asante Yeboah, Assistant Planning Officer at the Brong-Ahafo Regional Office of the NRSC, commended the DVLA and the MTTD for effort in helping to bring sanity on the road.
