Ada Asafotufiami Begins On July 31

The chiefs and people of Ada Traditional Area would from July 31 to August 7, celebrate their annual festival, Asafotufiami. A statement released by the secretary to the Ada Paramount stool, Mr Jonathan Dorkutso, said this year�s theme for the festival is �Quality Education, Key to Development of Ada Traditional Area.� The grand durbar of the chiefs and people would be on August 2, at the Presby School Park, Bid Ada, under the authority of the Paramount Chief, Djetse Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III. Thousands of celebrants of both Ghanaian and foreign origins, are expected to participate in the 78 year old festival of bravery and musketry. The celebration would also be used to re-launch the Ada Traditional Educational Fund, show case cultural heritage of the people, as well as the tourism potentials of the area. The statement also said because of the expected huge turnout, security arrangements have been made for the week-long celebration. �There would be security personnel in both uniforms and plain clothes. There will be officials from the marine police, watch dog committees, Motor and Traffic Unit of Ghana Police Service and other units, to ensure sanity on the roads and the event grounds. It warned armed robbers, pick pockets and other miscreants to stay away because they would be caught and dealt with severely. Nene Akuaku advised the hotels, restaurants, guest houses, family and clan houses to keep record of all their guests during the festival.
