Teshie Homowo In Limbo

The people of Teshie have called on President John Dramani Mahama to as a matter urgency intervene in the chieftaincy dispute in the Teshie Township due to the destructive implications it may bring during the Teshie Homowo festival. According to the people, the Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture constituted a committee chaired by the Osu Chief Nii Owuo Kinkan Dowuona to investigate and install a legitimate Chief. However, the people have expressed their worry about the delay of the committee which according to them has created tension in the Teshie Township. The people revealed that the committee was given a three month period by the Minister to investigate and install the rightful Chief in Teshie. However, the committee has failed to provide any report on the issue. The Ghana Palaver in an interview with Mr H. E. He however, noted that the committee is working hard to solve the issue. He said the committee has warned the three Shekitele, three Manklalo and two Dzases not to regard themselves as one. In a related development, the Ashietey and Ashikwei families have promised that the people of Teshie would celebrate the Homowo festival without any act of violence.
