The annual Agbamevorza (Kente Festival) of the chiefs and people of the Agotime Traditional Area will come off in September at Agotime Kpetoe in the Volta Region.
The festival, in its 19th year, will showcase the lavish use of the Kente cloth, and project the cultural and aesthetic values of the cloth.
A statement copied to GNA on Tuesday said Agbamevorza is an ethnic example of the National Friday Wear initiative to motivate Ghanaians to patronize local fabrics.
The week long celebration which will begin on September 7 will include a visit to Afegame, the ancestral home of the Agotimes, Kente Weaving Competitions and a beauty pageant dubbed �Miss Kente 2014 Beauty Pageant and Dancing Competition.�
The Festival will be crowned with a Grand Durbar of Chiefs and People of Agotime at CEPS Division (GRA) Park and an Inter-denominational church service.
The statement said culture was a magnet for tourism and Agbemevorza Festival had boosted tourism in the 37 towns which participate in the festival.
The statement said the festival enhances sale of Kente cloth thus creating jobs for indigenes.
