Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, Osu Mantse and President of the Osu Traditional Council has invited all to support the 2014 Homowo Festival of the Osu Traditional area, which ends in September, 2014. The theme for the celebration is: �Traditional Festival as Vehicle for Accelerated Development�. The occasion would coincide with the launch of a five year short-term Development plan for the people and the community. A statement issued in Accra by Mr Theophilus Chuasam, Registrar and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday said, the festival, which is expected to bring together people from all over the country and the diaspora, would also provide a forum, not only to discuss developmental projects under the five-year plan, but to help consolidate Osu Homowo as a globally-competitive annual event to attract investment. It said the Planning Committee of this year�s Homowo Festival would invite corporate institutions and companies within the traditional area as stakeholders and partners to be actively involved in the celebrations, to leverage the festival platform to promote their products, brands and corporate entities. It noted that in this regard, the committee is directed to offer institution and companies, the unique opportunity to be associated with the 2014 Homowo Festival as a Media Partner to contribute generously in various capacities towards the organisation of this year�s events. It stated that the Osu Mantse has directed all tenants and companies or institutions operating on Osu land, as their corporate social responsibility, to support both in kind and cash for a successful organisation of the celebration of this year�s festival and other projects under the five year development plan. Some of the activities outlined for the programme are Lawn Tennis Competition, Health Walk with Osu Mantse and Stool Open Day, a Football Gala of the various Osu Clans and a Street Carnival from the Osu Salem School Park to the Oxford Street. Other activities of the Homowo Festival are the sprinkling of Kpokpoi, Homowo Awards Ceremony and a Thanksgiving Service.
