I Am Shocked At GMAs Demands Yileh Kyireh

The chairman of the Parliamentary health committee and MP for Wa West, Joseph Yileh Kyireh has expressed shock at recent demands by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA). The GMA is requesting for an insurance package to protect them against an outbreak of the Ebola disease. The Ghana Medical Association on Thursday asked for an improvement in their insurance package and the provision of necessary protective gear to allow them effectively deal with any outbreak of the deadly Ebola disease in the country. The deadly Ebola disease is on a frightening surge in the West African sub-region with Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria all recording cases of the virus. Speaking on the Eyewitness News, Yileh Kyireh, noted that, he understood the plight and frustrations of the doctors but did not believe it was going to address their concerns. Every group of people who are involved in such a thing will need an assurance of what will happen to them in the event of anything. But by their training I am particularly shocked by this demand, because it is one of the reasons why they undergoe special training and take a special oath. he said He, however, insisted it was incumbent on government and the entire nation to give the doctors adequate protection to allow them protect others. Meanwhile, he expressed satisfaction at the steps laid down by the ministry to handle an outbreak of the disease but reiterated the need for partnership between government and stakeholders to deal with the diseases.
